Provide an integrated library system and information technology services
|
Maintain, upgrade, and enhance the integrated library system, network technology, and bandwidth, and integrate electronic formats and downloadable content e.g. --explore self-check out, RFID, credit card payments, enhanced content -- assist members to incorporate wireless local area networks -- investigate software access to outside ILS for borrowing -- provide connections and authentication for NOVEL databases and those Purchased by the Central Library (Information Technology)
Provide members with information on third-party collection agency services
Expand access to other library catalogs through partnerships with Z39.50 sites (Info Technology)
Provide STLS technical support to members to maintain network connections from the library’s LAN switch to STLS. Assist libraries in maintaining a proper software installation of the integrated library system (ILS) client and anti-virus software.
Provide training to members on the use of Workflows, Director’s Station and STARCat (Information Technology, Interlibrary Loan)
Adopt policies, incorporate hardware and software protections, and enact procedures that protect patron privacy and the security of the network (Information Technology) |
Annual member library evaluation of STLS services
Annual analysis of statistics
Quarterly Information Technology meetings with members; meetings with the Directors association
Evaluate user skill level before and after training (via online survey)
Perform a follow-up evaluation to determine how the new skills have been used to increase productivity and how many others have been trained (via online survey)

Residents are able to search local and regional library collections and place holds library collections and place holds
Residents have access to current computer technology and have access to electronic information at local libraries
Members are able to --use the integrated library system to improve library productivity --provide residents with print and electronic information, online databases, and other -- train staff and patrons with the use of prepared documentation and online tutorials

Member libraries obtain local expertise to install, maintain, and repair internal equipment and systems such as local area networks, hubs, cabling, computers, printers, scanners and other hardware, peripherals, and operating system, anti-virus and productivity software

Provide access to online information through Central Library, NOVEL (New York Online Virtual Electronic Library) databases, and other sources |
Through the Central Library e-desk (www.ccld.lib.ny.us/edeskref.htm) provide remote professional reference service to member libraries and patrons (Central Library)
In cooperation with members add electronic databases as funds are available (Members, all Departments, Central Library)
Assist libraries to digitize materials and make them available electronically (Information Technology, Technical Services)
Investigate one-search options which would allow library staff and patrons to search multiple sources at the same time (Information Technology) |
