The Ascent Followed by the Descent

It’s lost! Oh, no! Where is It! I must find It…there! It fell through the wall! I gotta get It! Up I go. The wall so high…no good places to grip…ah! I made it! So far down…wall on top of cliff. Mustn’t think about it, just climb. Down, carefully…carefully. Made it! There It is! I got It back! Looking up… no, too high. I’ll stay here. I’ll be fine. But I got It back. So tired…

 

Erin slowly opened the door to the nursery and scanned it. For a moment she panicked when she saw the empty crib, but then her eyes slid down and she spotted Ethan, sound slept with his blankie on the floor. She smiled and gently lifted both him and the blanket into the crib.

On her way out she wondered out loud, “Why did he climb out of his crib?”
