What Can I Say?

by Pippin O'Leary

What can I say?

When the words stopper
the cork won’t pop
the pressure builds
has nowhere to go

so where is the pressure
where is the buildup
is it leaking?
is it staining?
is it changing?

when you want to scream
to live
to feel again

The words wouldn’t come. She stood there, mouth wide open. The wind rushed around her, a crescendo of wild noise. Yet she couldn’t do it. What would she say? I’m alive? I’m dead? Which would be true?

Where are you, emotions? hast thou deserted me?
I reject you, logic
please
complete me
my soul is fractured
I cannot feel it leaving
dropping piece by piece.

I want to feel.
