July 1 - Join the Club
“Catch the Reading Bug” Summer Reading Program registration
begins at the Southeast Steuben County Library; 300 Nasser Civic Center
Plaza in Corning. Sign up for great reading incentives starting today in
the Children’s Department (9:30 am – 6 pm). Free. Call (607) 936-3713
ext. 503. The Summer Reading Program encourages children, teens and
adults to continue reading throughout the summer. Rewards are given for
reaching reading goals, and there is a weekly drawing for special
incentive rewards.
July 10 - Moreland the Magician
Magic Show/Comedy. Moreland the Magician will show children
and caregivers how to “Catch the Reading Bug.” Held at Nasser Civic
Center Rink, next to the Southeast Steuben County Library in
Corning. (1 pm – 1:45 pm) No admission charge. Call (607) 936-3713 ext.

July 17 - Madcap Giant Puppet Theatre
Madcap Productions Giant Puppet Theatre will present “Once
Upon a Clock.” A magical grandfather clock transports two children to a
world where story books come alive. Held at Nasser Civic Center Rink. (1 pm –

July 24 - Storyteller Queen Nur
Storyteller Karen Nur El-Amin (Queen Nur) celebrates
African-American heritage with stories, songs, music and dance. Held at

July 31 - "Buggy about Books"
Musical storytelling duo Tales ‘n Tunes present “Buggy about
Books,” a backyard safari highlighting the joys of reading. Held in the
Laura Beer Community Room at the Southeast Steuben County Library. (1 pm – 1:45 pm) No admission charge. Sign-up for this

August 7 - Catskill Puppet Theater
Catskill Puppet Theater presents “Ivan’s Three Wishes,” a
musical based on a Russian folktale. Held at Nasser Civic Center Rink,

August 14 - Traveling Lantern Theatre Company
Traveling Lantern Theatre Company presents “The Caterpillar
Hunter,” based on the character of the late wildlife expert Steve Irwin.
The Caterpillar Hunter shrinks himself and sets off to explore the
wonders of a vegetable garden. The show is designed to complement the
Summer Reading Program theme, “Catch the Reading Bug.” Held at Nasser
