Position Available: Library Director Full-time/Anticipated start June, 2019 rev.4/22/19
The Board of Trustees of the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library in Hammondsport, NY seeks an energetic,
innovative and community-oriented director with proven leadership and supervisory skills. The successful candidate should
have the passion, vision and motivation required to lead the library in the “Coolest Small Town in America”.
The library is located in the heart of the Finger Lakes, on Keuka Lake in the historic village of Hammondsport, home to award
winning wineries and two renowned museums.
Chartered in 1938, the library built a beautiful new 10,000 sq. ft. facility in 2007. As part of the Southern Tier Library System,
the Taylor Library houses over 50,000 materials, serves as a vibrant community learning and enrichment center, offers over 200
adult and children’s programs annually and has a well-established early literacy program for preschoolers and their caretakers.
The library prides itself on providing excellent customer service with free and equal public access to all educational and arts-related
resources and programs.
The Library Director is the chief executive of the library, reporting to a Board of Trustees.
All staff positions (3 part-time) are civil service appointments.

POSITION: Immediate vacancy for Library Aide at Watkins Glen Public Library; 10- 26 hours/week. The position may include evenings and/or weekend hours.
RATE OF PAY: $12-$12.17/hr.

VACANCY: At the present time, one part-time (15 hours per week) position is available. This is a non-competitive Civil Service title and does not require an exam.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Candidates must have been legal residents of Schuyler or a contiguous (Chemung, Seneca, Steuben, Tompkins and Yates) county for at least one month immediately preceding the date of application.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The work involves performance of specialized non-librarian duties. It requires aptitude to operate independently within prescribed responsibilities. The work is performed under the general supervision of a Librarian. Related tasks and evening/weekend hours may be required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Plan, organize and execute children’s programs including:
Recommend children’s materials to the Director for the library collection;
Work with Director to obtain grant support for innovative parent-child programs;
Communicate with teachers regarding materials wanted and needed by students;
Advise Director regarding appropriate computer software and policies for children;
Attend continuing education programs organized by Southern Tier Library System Children’s Consultant, and incorporate consultant’s expertise into local programming;
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree in Elementary Education or Child Development is preferred. Preference will also be given to candidates possessing two years of paid or voluntary experience in any of the following: organizing and presenting children’s programs in libraries; publicizing children’s library programs; selecting children’s books for libraries; directing outreach programs for children.

Finger lakes rural library seeks dynamic applicant for a management of library services position .
This person must show a comfort with current technology, be aware of future library and publishing trends, use excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
Must be skilled in sensitivity and effectively respond to and reaching out to members of the community, staff and Board.
Requirements: minimum requirement is a 4 year degree
Salary: $38K-$43K commensurate with education and library experience.
