Immediate Position Opening: Youth Services Specialist 30/hr. – Southeast Steuben County Library, Corning, NY
Job Description: Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the Youth Services Specialist will perform children’s reference desk duties, and develop and perform a designated amount of pre-school and toddler story hours and outreach. Collection maintenance projects assigned as needed. This is a 30 hr. PT position with paid vacation and personal time, sick time, retirement plan eligibility, and EAP services. Compensation is $15/hr.
Responsibilities include program development/ presentation for children and youth in the library and at designated outreach locations. Works assigned shifts in Children’s Dept., and in Circulation and Reference as needed.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills in group and interpersonal settings, demonstrated writing proficiency, and facility in MS Word and other MS Office programs. Applicants must have reliable transportation and the ability to transport, set up and take down library materials and displays. Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks independently and work effectively as a team member. Must maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, patrons, user groups, community organizations, volunteer groups and must serve the public courteously.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s Degree and experience working with children. Two work-related references required.

Temporary Part Time ILS Specialist Position – Southern Tier Library System
ILS Specialist: 6-month Temporary Part Time position to assist in cataloging of library system materials. Tasks include: Entering or copying bibliographic records, assigning call numbers and subject headings to library materials using a PC with SirsiDynix WorkFlows ILS software. Must be, or become familiar with, AACRII, RDA, MARC and other national cataloging standards.
This position requires knowledge of library terminology and procedures, excellent computer skills, accuracy, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and multi-task various duties, mental alertness, tact, courtesy, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Cataloging experience preferred, experience with SirsiDynix a plus. Associates Degree and/or equivalent library experience required. Must have valid driver’s license.
The position is 19 hours per week and is temporary for 6-months effective of hire date. Hourly wage is $15.00 per hour with limited, prorated benefits. Before applying, please read the job description for more information.

IT Systems & Network Specialist – Southern Tier Library System

General Statement of Duties
The IT Systems & Network Specialist performs professional duties to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Integrated Library System (ILS), supporting servers, clients, LANs, WANs, and Information Technology related projects.
Salary range is $41,000 – $45,000 for this 37.5 hour per week position, and is commensurate with experience. New York State Retirement & Empire Health Plan. Paid vacation, sick, personal and holidays based on organizational contract.

Part Time Library Clerk – David A. Howe Library, Wellsville, NY
The David A. Howe Library, in Wellsville, NY, is currently hiring a part-time (20 hour per week) library clerk. Duties include assisting patrons at the circulation desks, reshelving materials and helping with programs. Evening and weekend hours will be required.
Youth Services Coordinator – Cuba Circulating Library, Cuba NY
The Cuba Circulating Library, a member of the Southern Tier Library System, in Cuba, New York is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of Youth Services Coordinator.
Wages are commensurate with experience.
The Youth Services Coordinator (YSC) is a part-time position, working 25-32 hours per week,
arranging and facilitating programming for children and teens in a very active library. Customer service to our children and their caregivers is a vital component of this position.
The YSC plans and teaches weekly story hours and arranges for and hosts youth and family programs. This person must have knowledge of, and experience with, children and children’s literature. The YSC manages (reviewing, selecting, ordering, weeding and maintaining) the children’s book and multi-media collection. This position also requires a familiarity with computers, social media, gaming, and the many activities that might be possible or enhanced using today’s technology. The YSC works on assigned projects to promote interactive, creative, educational experiences for the public, and performs related duties as assigned by the Library Director.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Studies, Education, Library Science or a related field and have experience working with youth ages birth- 18.
