If you already have a physical library card in the STLS system, do not register for a digital card. If you are unable to log into your existing account, please try to reset your password online, or call your local library for help.

How long will my digital library card be active?

Currently, digital cards are good for at least six months after registration date.

What can my digital card do? 

With your digital card, you can place holds and checkout ebooks and audiobooks on OverDrive, and you can access movies and digital magazines thorugh OverDrive or the Libby app.

If I sign up for a digital card, can it be transferred to a physical card later? 

Yes! Visit your local library, let them know you have an ONLINE account, and ask them for a physical card. Please make sure to bring a photo ID and proof of residence with you to the library.

Will my holds and reading activity in Libby/OverDrive transfer from my digital card to my new card?

When you request a physical card at your local library, be sure to let library staff know that you have Libby/OverDrive activity that you would like to transfer. Local libraries will submit a request to merge your old card with your new card.*

Can I walk into a library and use my digital card to checkout physical books? Can I use it to place holds in STARCat? 

No. This is a digital only card, so you can’t use it to place holds in STARCat or to checkout physical books. BUT, please visit your local library to transfer your digital card to a physical card. A physical card will give you full access to digital and physical library materials and services.

If I already have a physical library card, do I need to sign up for a digital card, too?

No. Your physical card will give you access to all of the STLS physical and digital materials. If you are unable to login to your existing account, please try to reset your password online, or call your local library, and they can assist you.
