The Pew Research Center recently published a report on Libraries and Learning. Here are some key takeaways from the report:
The Good
The report shows that 76% of American adults feel that libraries serve the educational needs of their communities (71% say they serve their own personal needs and the needs of their families).
Also, an overwhelming number of library users (97% who used a library or bookmobile, 98% who used the library website) consider themselves “lifelong learners”.
The Bad
Only 44% of adults said they visited a library or bookmobile in the past 12 months.
Only 62% of adults know that their local library offers ebooks and digital audiobooks for borrowing.
