MOOCs: Lifelong Learning in the Library (Review)

799px-MOOC_-_Massive_Open_Online_Course_logo.svgOn Tuesday August 25th, I conducted a webinar on how to leverage the availability of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) to provide lifelong
learning opportunities in the library. For those of you who have taken a MOOC, you probably noticed that the one ingredient that is missing is personal interaction. I think this is one of the main reasons why MOOCs and public libraries are such a good fit.

To help illustrate the concept of a MOOC meetup in the library, I plan on periodically offering meetup opportunities for staff at various STLS member libraries. MOOCs selected will focus on library-related topics. The first of these events will be hosted at the Belmont Free Library on September 23rd @ 11am. I have selected the MOOC: Copyright for Educators & Librarians (https://www.coursera.org/learn/copyright-for-education#). Click here to register for the meetup.
