Promoting STLS Online Resources (Review)

On Monday August 3rd, I conducted a webinar highlighting some of the ways in which STLS member libraries can promote the availability of various online resources including STARCat, Freegal, Overdrive and Zinio. Here are some key points:

Digital Collection Marketing Materials

Freegal, Overdrive and Zinio offer various materials to help promote their products both online and physically within the library. This includes buttons, banners, posters and bookmarks:

Freegal – http://www.libraryideas.com/marketing.html

Overdrive – http://partners.overdrive.com/marketing-
outreach/libraries/

Zinio – http://rbdigitalmarketing.com/Zinio/RBmkt_Zinio_Web.html

STARCat Search Box

The following code can be inserted into a website to allow patrons to perform a STARCat keyword search:

<form method=”get” id=”searchForm” action=”http://starcat.stls.org/client/embedded.search/default”>

<input type=”hidden” name=”ln” value=”en_US” />

<input id=”q” title=”Search For:” maxlength=”256″ name=”q” value=”” type=”text” accesskey=”s”/>

<input value=”Search” id=”searchButton” class=”button” title=”Search” type=”submit” />

</form>

Overdrive Read Box

Overdrive Read Box allows eBook samples to be embedded on any website and spread freely on social media. More information is available at http://company.overdrive.com/products/readbox/.
